Technology Transfer Training by SIRIM for Safari Gas Production

Last week marked an important milestone for Safari Techs Holdings Sdn. Bhd. in the production of our Safari Gas. Our team received an intensive technology transfer training program at our factory in Nilai from 19th to 23rd June 2023 with collaboration with Standards and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia (SIRIM). The aim of this hands-on training is to equip us with the knowledge and skills necessary to install and operate the filament winding machine, optimize raw material ratios, ensure quality control, and implement safety precautions effectively. Besides, this training is also helping us to excel in our production of composite LPG cylinder.

Operating Machine and Optimizing Raw Material Ratios
One of the key aspects of the technology transfer training was to familiarize ourselves with the installation and operation of the filament winding machine. Through SIRIM’s expert guidance, we learned about the machine’s components. We gained practical experience in setting up the machine, adjusting parameters, and troubleshooting issues. We also achieve the optimal ratio of raw material of resin and hardener to ensure the strength and durability of LPG cylinder. Through hands-on exercise, we learn in measuring and mixing materials accurately ensuring consistency and high-quality output.

Production of Cylinder Batches for Burst Testing
During the training, we successfully produced several batches of composite LPG cylinders. As part of our quality control process, some of our LPG cylinders will be selected to undergo burst testing. This test is to ensures the cylinders’ ability to withstand high-pressure conditions and their safety and reliability. Despite our best efforts, we also encountered some rejected cylinders during the training. However, we embraced these as learning opportunities. Each rejected cylinder was carefully analysed and studied to identify the root cause of the issue. This analysis enabled us to implement necessary improvements in our production processes in order to reduce rejection rates in next batches.

Lessons Learned and Continuous Improvement
The challenges we faced during the technology transfer training provided valuable lessons for our team. We learned the importance of attention to detail, operating protocols, and constant monitoring of the production process. We are committed to learning from our mistakes and implementing corrective measures to enhance the overall quality and efficiency of our composite LPG cylinder production.
The technology transfer training conducted in collaboration with SIRIM proved to be a transformative experience for Safari Techs Holdings Sdn. Bhd. Their guidance in equipping our team with the necessary knowledge and skills were really appreciated. By mastering the machine, raw material, problem-solving efforts, and handling of rejected cylinders, we gained valuable insights and useful experiences for the future. Above all, we are now well-prepared to deliver our superior Safari Gas to our customer.
